I’m pretty sure they have to register as a Public Benefit Organisation and then after that, apply for Section18A approval before being allowed to issue receipts

As an NPO we should be able to register with SARS, but would need the certificate first, which (according to their mail on the 11th) will arrive in 6 weeks. Once we have that we can pursue the required accountant and then SARS.

Have CTWUG received their certificate yet, also is the accountant and sars thingy sorted. I have approached my company to donate to CTWUG. They in turn need to obviously have certain information including the certificate. I was asked today to give a summary or proposal if one calls it that, of what CTWUG is and do etc. Do we have anything that can be provided in such instances. Forgive my lack of understanding regarding this process, but I do not wish to refer them to a website. Oh, and they need it by tomorrow, so if anyone can maybe draft something that I could present to them, it would be of major help as I lack these skills.My email is roland.elliott@ngkceramics.co.za or rolanxelliott@gmail.com, thanks.

Nope we are looking for someone that can do the books for as cheap as possible free would be best off course. Without section18a approval no one will donate towards us.

I could still try my luck if I had something to present, seeing that we are a registered NPO. I think that is their only concern, I hope. I will of course explain the situation regarding the accountant and hope for the best.

@Stiaanm What is the required qualifications for the Accountant. I know some one who knows some one etc…

I can recommend somebody who isn’t affiliated to CTWUG but would charge very reasonable rates. I use them for a few companies and they’re good.

Probably looking at about R 2k per month for Bookkeeping, Online Accounting Software, Annual Financial Statements and all Tax matters. Who knows, they might do it for free for some advertising and his own Tax write-off.
