Hi, does anyone know where I can get some plastic M8 nuts?
I want to mount something where it will be close to seawater and the nuts I have are steel. They will corrode in minutes!
Why not use stainless steel nuts?
It is in a marine environment. Even stainless steel (unless of really high grade) degrades in a few weeks.
Plastic is betterder.
Maybe gives these guys a call http://www.mes.cc/I'm sure if they don't have they can point you in the right direction.
I ask bolt and nut for plastic nuts and they never heard of it.
M8 316(a4)R0.98 exl each, marine grade stainless steel will only rust in about 4years.
Mantech might have what I need: http://www.mantech.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?Item=CMK-M8
Not only must it be nonmetallic (even stainless steel won't last) but it is a fine thread too. Not the standard thread size. Meh.
try using stainless steel nut its the best for sea weather
Trust me, I have seen high grade stainless after 3 months there. It looks like plain steel!
I cannot believe it degrades that badly.
Doesn't your lightie have a plastic truck or something that they build & disassemble all the time? Just swipe the nuts from there
