Hi All,
Skramrox node # 11343. Situated in Bellville North in a small place called de Bron.

The house overlooks Protea valley and has clear LOS with most of the areas as far as Welgedacht and Welgemoed.

I am looking to get connected to wug but do not mind hosting as a HS if needed.

It doesnt look like there are any peeps broadcasting in my direction currently but hope to pickup something when I do a scan this weekend. Any advice for the area … or if someone can point me to the area admin I would greatly appreciate it !!!

Ok … the view isnt as good as I first thought … perhaps not the ideal candidate for a HS.

The photo is from the second floor window at my house.

From this view are you able to tell what HS is my best bet ?

If possible, could you get an image from higher up where the kit would be mounted?

View from roof + ~3m of mast height should be able to clear those trees and potentially bring Xanex into view

Wacko141, what about Mamemos ? Looks like Xanex has a p2p to Mamemos … so I should be able to do a p2p to Mamemos if he were able to accomodate.

Mamemos … what you think bud ? Can I get hooked up ?

Ahoi,
Ok … so I did a scan … and found two ctwug HS’s.

Stolla - which is wierd cos his node doesnt show as broadcasting ?

AND Xanex … which is also slightly wieerd cos he appears to be broadcasting in a different direction.

Scanning was a simple sweep without trying to fine tune. Stolla signal not too good but Xanex I managed to get at -75 without much trouble.

If I get higher … above the trees in the area and perhaps if Xanex swings his HS broadcast direction just a little toward me without affecting the current 2 users I should get low 60’s.

Gonna ask Xanex what he thinks and gonna get me a 3m pole,

That Stolla signal you’re picking up is from Kaarkie2 HS I believe.

Xanex looks like a good fit for now

Getting a -67 to Xanex … just one problem … Xanex has run out of IP’s to hand out. Could you please assist ? I can be reached on skramrox @ gmail.com - pretty please let me know ASAP so I can get hooked up :slight_smile:

… on that note.

Something strange when I checked my DNS status on tt. It showed that I was registering the same IP as my HS RB IP. I.e. Xanex-Gateway.

Is there some natting or masquerading at play ? I aint complaining … everything works … but there may just be some wierd config between mamemos and xanex HS.

So if I update wind with my actual IP it doesnt matter cos my actual IP is never actually being broadcast over wug ?

Any advice ?

That most likely means there is some kind of masq involved somewhere along the line.

Just double check with Xanex as it shouldn’t be that way.
