yea you have decent speeds now, wait till he get more users, speeds are gonna drop and he’ll start charging more for the connection. But i guess he is trying to help, never heard of a wisp willing to act as a bridge for a public wlan!
Crow, while your offer is appreciated the whole idea behind CTWUG is a free community network. Having to pay a monthly fee for WUG access goes against everything we stand for.
There is a highsite in Tamboerskloof (SSID: tbk) that services the city bowl area. It does not directly belong to CTWUG but it can be used to access the WUG. The polarisation is horizontal.
How do I jump onto the Tamboerskloof one? I’d like to get this thing up and running now, but I is are to be struggling to figure out what to do.

there is an AP in the Greenpoint area - ctwug-green almost on the border between greenpoint and town. potfiction you should be able to connect to tbk highsite

If I found a good place to have a highsite put up. What are the requirements that I need? like power, space need etc? I am not connected to the WUG and have never been, my intentions are to try and get a highsite up by greenpoint, seapoint and maybe have it connected to other highsite? could any1 maybe give me some pointers.

It looks like there is a demand in the CBD and greenpoint.
Your node #282 looks like a good location to start. Both Venus and Neptune have LOS.
If the WUG is not prepared to put up a site due to costs, you could do it yourself, depending if you have the funds or not.
Firstly, try to join us on IRC and see if you can get the testkit to do a couple of scans. That is a good indication to see what you can connect to.
Then get yourself connected first. At least this will give you a better idea of what we do and how we do it.
Then if you feel it is worth it, expand your site yourself so that you can broadcast to others.
Cost of your own kit for connecting is about R2k.
Cost to put up a HS is around R6k.
Power is not too much, around 20W max. What you also need is a good place for mounting all the kit. You can have a look at the gallery to get an idea of how diffrent sites can look.
Power: Normasl 240v for PSU
Space: Negligable ( average 1m x 0.5m )
Equipment: 433,2 mini pci radios, grid and sector, pole and brackets.
