City of Cape Town on WiND

I’ve just figured out that City of Cape Town is logging into WiND and check for our nodes/sites. I spotted this while checking the logs and seeing logins from IPs that appear to be coming from the

I just noticed a user that was registered on WiND as well:

Seems like they are targeting masts and communications base stations (basically anything on the roof that is not a DSTV dish or TV antenna).

Please reply below with practical suggestions on what as the @Committee can do?
Any ideas how to hide radio dishes on the roof? Perhaps build a roof like frame over it? Disguise them as DSTV dishes?

Has anyone been contacted by this user?

Can someone make a stencil/logo like this?

Want to spray it on my dish so it looks like DSTV.

Will spray paint affect the signal?

@spin I just asked the guy that owns the local sticker/printing shop in my area (delft). He says he will charge about roughly R40 a sticker. Didn’t ask for bulk as he is in festive mode.

Just be careful for using names that has copyright on it, don’t want an infringement case either

Can just edit it a bit. Just needs to look similar at a distance.

First of all @spin well spotted
Second how many more are there ?

But hiding won’t help need positive solutions and maybe get the @Committee to at some point engage the CCT. Try and get exempted.

Iets by no means a easy job but when they start to infiltrate we now that the city has no more work and is looking for work.

I can show them so much more work that they can do and really needs the attention, but we all know easy targets makes the numbers.

Not really infiltration. They openly called themselves CoCT enforcement.

Ok I do concede to your point

You will need to follow the correct producers and apply for your mast being over the allowed height.

I noticed there are a couple of CoCT email addresses on WiND. Most of them are connected. Perhaps they can assist us.

Long story short, the definitions that you will be nailed on if your zoning does not allow it:

Note that if your mast connects to “any part of the building” it will be seen as an RBTS station, this would include devices mounted on walls.

FTBS does not connect anywhere but the ground.

As you can see here, any residential zoning requires consent. This consent is for ANY device(s) to go up at all. Note that there is no height limit at all, consent should be obtained, full stop. If your zoning has the right to RBTS, you would need consent to go higher than 3 meters above the roof at the point where the structure is placed.

Now, note that the devices are legal, but the structure to hold it in place is not. These do not apply only to wireless devices, but ANY electronic devices that can be use for “transmitting or receiving of electronic communication signals”.

How many of you have Electronic doorbells? Or intercom/video doorbells? Did you apply for consent? Please do, you would need plans showing these devices drawn up to submit, as well as around R3500 for them to consider your request.

Security cameras? outside booster for 3G/4G antennas? Alarm connected via radio with antenna mounted outside? Motor on gate in driveway? Please do as above to have compliance…

How many of the COCT “police” knocking on doors are actually compliant to these?

You can spray Satellite dishes with a NON METALIC paint. If the paint contains metal particles, it scatters the signal instead of concentrating the beam to the focal point of the L.N.B.
