We are a group of people running a community based, not for profit, wireless network in Cape Town. We are not just a network – CTWUG is a learning experience for everyone from novices to experts. Joining and setting up your node is the first learning experience for new users and is just the beginning of a never-ending journey of learning.
Our aim is to promote the use and understanding of 802.11 wireless equipment and to build a citywide free wireless network available to all. All equipment is standard Wi-Fi equipment. CTWUG is built using wireless devices that operate on either the 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz free-to-air frequencies and as such no licenses are required.
The CTWUG network works much like a small version of the internet. Many houses, buildings and high sites make up a mesh of interconnected nodes able to pass traffic along to the next, making it possible to connect all nodes on the network.
Many users of CTWUG test pilot programs, software, hardware and other computer related experiments on the network as it is a great way to perform Research & Development on a large scale, completely private network.
What are you waiting for?
This my friend is our principals, This is why we started this network but nowa days our network is been taken over by newbies and established members who wants to use our network for their our own gain.
I call on all members that still believe is our old values to stand up and stop turning a blind eye to what is happening and take back our network.
