D-day awareness 2018

The WUG consist of around 2000 nodes at this point, with some (very few) being unoccupied relay nodes (Ariel, etc). Sadly, the willing donators is only around 200 nodes, which I find to be an absolute embarrasment. Why would we need to have to nudge every time we have our annual fund-raiser?

In light of this, my highsite will be down for the entire 24 hours of 9 June. I also invite everybody to join me in this awareness drive, be it highsites or services. The more we can have paticipating, the better the results would be. To those objecting, please be so kind to talk of another way that we can actually have people donating without this “blackmail”.

To those in agreement, please note your intentions here, and pretty please respect the fact that no CTWUG-owned sites will be participating (as per our constitution).

I can shut my site down but it will affect only me :stuck_out_tongue: Will donate though

I will personally keep my sites online so that users are able to get to Audi and get the nice pop-up.

A lot of people are weirdly not aware of D-Day.

Maybe we can ask the owners of Audi if they would mind doing a 5 second redirect to the d-day page. that will drum up lots of awareness. I mean waiting 5 seconds for audi is not that bad. @Jypels @Skouperd @spin

Spin will in this case not be able to help without express authorisation (not a CTWUG-managed service) from the Audi boss(es), but those same boss(es) ALWAYS assisted in the past

What we have done this year from past years is do Area donation. As before we had people in our area say they would donate and never did due to eft part. This year Myself and @Bronny are going around by guys in our area and doin collections and i must say it a success all clients are donating as area admins are making them aware of D-Day on dialy basis by posting people donations in our whasapp group so we went from 2x people just donating to 15x+ people donating then we will just deposit cash as reference it as Area Donation. I know its alot to do for area admins but its very worth it and at the end of the day thats what area admins signed up for helping ctwug network group

Very good way to do that, but would be very time-consuming (that in itself is a major luxury I personally cannot afford). Even areas that bring their part should participate here, as they would be feeding areas that did not feel like participating at all. Unfortunately the only way to open the latter area’s eyes is “mass starvation”, which is the exact aim of this thread.

Bottom line as far as WUG is concerned: The “hungry” will absolutely appreciate “food”…

I will however give in this way: Should we be within 10% of target, my site will stay on without any interruption from my side

I will enable the re-direct tonight.

As usual I do expect a lot of backlash due to it.

Redirect disabled again?

Yes, last night already.

I think a few hours every evening will really help as that’s when Audi is most busy, I am just taking a wild guess but I would assume 95% of the WUG uses it at least once a week so it will make an impact.

I will enable it every second night, and run it for the whole of D-Day.

Thanks to All Audi admins & Audi owners for assisting the committee with this drive. We really appreciate it.
