Yo people i sugest that we make it around 1 o clock people but we need to know soon cafsta-km we still having it at ur place what do u thinking of the time man:D
Ok guys/gals
Saturday 18 May 2013 for 13:00 at my place is quite fine.
Ya’ll have WIND so catch my place on there otherwise it’s 25 Luna Way, Gordon’s Bay.
See ya’ll then…
Hey
Is it possible to do it at 14:00? Stormers are playing at 12 :).
LMAO…
Ok if everyone is in agreement then 2 is fine
Fine by me.
Ok so it was asked for an Agenda for the meet. Just something rough which we will chat about…
- Getting to know those we have not met yet.
- Getting to know more about our main links which connects Helderberg to the rest of the WUG.
- Getting to know more about the available AP’s in our area and also if we can setup more AP’s if necessary.
- If necessary then how we can go about having it set up.
- Getting to know who maintains the Backbone links and AP’s (routing part that is).
- Discussing the physical maintenance of above mentioned links. Who is willing to assist when necessary.
- Discussing the idea of another Backbone link or 2 linking us to other areas as redundancy links for when one or other Backbone link is down for whatever reason.
For now this is what I can think about which we will chat about.
As mentioned, I am not network savvy and with this meet we could possibly ascertain who has what skills and is willing to offer up of their time and their skill.
Ek wil ook nou leer maar dit sal tyd vat ne maar ek help graag waar ek kan….
That’s about it guys/gals.
See ya’ll at 14:00 then after the game.
Bring your own XYZ :bounce:
Any updates since yesterdays meeting?
As a temporary measure, I was wondering if it would be an idea to connect Pine to Nazz and to Jock from there instead of Pine straight to Jock.
Reasons being:
- The distance from Pine to Nazz is 3793m and Pine to Jock 5400m. So this is about 1400m shorter.
- Taking some strain off Jock
- I a grid pointing to Pine
I just decided to update my node on wind so that it may help with planning.
Hey nazz…
After all left it was QT with the wife man.
I’ll post what we discussed and what will be done by certain nodes…
Still QT so most probably by Tuesday I’ll post it.
About your idea… If the guys with more knowledge could possibly reply to this. What are the pro’s & con’s.
Thanx guys
Hey Helderbergies, would love to discuss training more during this week’s Admin Hour. Please try attend.
Will try my best!
Ok so Saturday’s meet went well I think. Everyone getting to see each other again and others meeting each other for the first time.
So, firstly thank you to all who attended the meet and an especially BIG thank you goes out to Aragon who made the great trek to join us on this side of the peninsula.
As for the agenda of the meet, I’ve summarised it to the following:
- Maintenance on our backbone links have been silently maintained by BigMike. The links being Drakehome, Helderberg & Wasley. He has also been maintaining the Gants node. A big thank you to Mike for all he has done and still does for our area.
- Backbone links were discussed. Possible backbone would possibly be at Pine to someone in the Southern Suburbs/Deep South area. Contact will be made with Zenberg to find out if there is a possibility that a backbone link can be setup with that node. If not we will enquire further as to who could possibly assist us with space to set up this Backbone.
- Mjspikes was also considered as being a possible backbone but that is still being decided as he is quite close to Wasley.
- AP’s were also discussed. Jock being the highest AP in Gordon’s Bay area, most clients that were on Steenbras need new connection which turns out to be Jock.
- A second sector will be going up at Jock in the next few weeks which will accommodate another 6/7 clients.
- Mjspikes is also considered as an AP once he is connected to the WUG and his connection/link is ok.
- Jock & Coco to have a possible link between them for redundancy purposes as when Marais or Wasley is down then most from the Gordon’s Bay area has no other route to the rest of the WUG. Scanning will be done between them to ascertain if this could possibly work.
- New clients wanting to connect, Mjspikes & Zeal.
- Zeal is sorted with assistance to connect.
- Mjspikes might connect to BigMike and must let us know if he needs assistance.
- 1st contact of our area is BigMike. He has mentioned that he has been quite busy and will be for another few weeks. 1st contact could possibly be changed to me or as suggested to Mike, he can forward all mail received from new wuggers. Mike and myself to discuss this further.
- Lastly but most importantly………………
- Aragon has offered the idea of training for Mikrotik and it’s workings to us. Daily issues we are faced with etc…
- It was mentioned that we might need equipment (spare RB’s) for these training sessions.
- Coco might have 2 RB’s which could be used and another 1 or 2 might be needed as well. If anyone could assist then you can contact Aragon or myself and I will liaise with Aragon then.
- Those who wanted in on the training sessions are to mail Aragon (pm me or Aragon if you need his e-mail addi) or join the TS session @ 20:00 today 2013/05/21
- Once he has confirmation from all trainees a date will then be set.
Once again thanx to all who joined and participated and showed interest. Here’s to many more meets and great maintenance of our area.
