It’s been age since our area has had a meeting/get together.
I don’t know but I have not heard of any maintenance on any High Sites, Back Bones or Access Points or even Clients.
As far as I know and according to the “First Contact” page, Big Mike is the area admin so to say. I could be mistaken.
In any case with the chatter going around it seems our area is falling to pieces with nobody doing anything about it (or so I think).
I suppose I am taking it upon myself to gather the troops to try and sort our area out and get our Backbones/Links in shape again.
There are 2 guys so far that I know of that have been wanting to connect to the WUG in Somerset West area but there seems to be no help for them. I do not know if they had used the “First Contact” page.
SO… With all the neglect that has occurred I’d like to get the ball rolling in getting our area to have regular meets and maintenance on our links. I am not knowledgeable where settings are concerned of the equipment but I can use my hands brilliantly, which means I am willing to assist with manual labor on our links. Warlock has offered his time to assist where necessary which he will do remotely when needed.
Anyway the point of the post is to arrange GET TOGETHER for the Helderberg Wuggers. Those connected and those wanting to connect.
We can arrange for a venue once all have been informed and discussed.
So here’s to the first day of the rest of our WUGGING LIVES in our area lmao (yeah yeah corny I know)…
It would be great for you to back up some of your statements with fact. The backbones that I am responsible are doing well and are well maintained. If you are referring to Steenbras, go ahead and chat to the people that put it up and then took it down. These are the same people that took down Rage. I believe you were one of them.
I’m all for a meeting and I will attend, but please get your facts straight.
I have damn well clicked each and every node in the Helderberg area and mailed the link to the thread to all node admins. If you are the admin of a node for the user then please inform the user of the forum thread and the get together we want to arrange.
If I have sent you more than one e-mail - Please forgive me but it’s kinda K*K clicking each node to mail them. One kinda loses count of who you sent mail already lol…

I used to be very into the gaming on the WUG but it took over and was ruining my marriage so had to stop that.
Now I mainly just use the latest linux distros like most of the people. The latest linux distros have been working well for me.
I’m always keen to help if I can. I don’t know much about Mikrotiks yet but am eager to learn.
I connect to Wasley and don’t have anyone connecting to me.
If you’ve got a meeting here locally let me know and I will try and attend depending on when it is.
My Mondays and Thursdays evenings are booked up. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are free.

I don’t live in Somerset-West anymore, but my links are still active and inherited by my parents (my dad loves those linux distros)
I’m willing to help people get connected, I’m not a MTik expert but I should be able to assist configuring a basic WUG link, or give some advice with user specific setups…
