Thanks to all the guys that came to help with the 5Hour big job of removing everything and remounting everything here.
Uys, Snowy & Speedbump. Thanks to German for the Sponser of the Kit to Put up here.
Changes.
Added new BB Link to German (13km link signal now at -57)
Due to the Guyver-Lockjaw BB link that is being disabled , I’ve decided to remove it.
Problems
There is Still a Problem on the Rea (Kingpin) BB Link. We have realigned and even replaced the LMR cables but signal still not right.
Can Someone help and let us know when we can go make a turn at Rea (Kingpin) and realign/replace LMR or just redo waterproofing.
Today we put a lot of effort in and today we got a 13km link at -57/-57 but the 3km link still only at -68/-77
German is also trying to arrange someone to help with the OSPF and the setups, if someone has time and can help with that please contact him of myself.
I think the kit on Rhea’s side might be faulty, I will have a chat to Ogon about replacing it.
Regarding the Lockjaw link, why is it being disabled? Rhea-Guyver-Lockjaw was the core relay link to Saturn and this was used to link the different parts of Brackenfell together. One of the main reasons you got a link towards Rhea. Can I have some more information please?
no idea, every time i look it was disabled, has been going on for about 3 months now…
i was under the impression it was because it was NOT a dual polarity link, It was still 2 grids.
If enough people feel it should go back up, have no problem putting it back, or maby even upgrading the link.
I can see Saturn easy too if you guys think it would be better to go straight to Saturn for a nother BB.
My mast and Server Rack open for whatever you guys feel is better for the WUG.
Guyver, if the German link is using 30DB dishes, the signal should be much lower than that on Defualt TX power. Using a TX power of 24 (Defualt tx power on netbox = 30) you should have a link syncing at -52/-52 on that distance. If you do it on defualt TX your signal should be low -40’s. Maybe just check if it is aligned properly or if something isn’t in the way. With a dish is much easier to make the mistake of aligning on the left or right signal lobe, this can affect signal by about 10 to 15db’s.
An example of this distance would be the Ironman - Pandora link. On max TX power the link connects at -36db using the same equipment.
Also could you please list what equipment Lockjaw has on his side? Then we can perhaps look into a possible project to upgrade this link to something newer. ( Just want to check what impact it will have on our relay traffic first)
@Guyver, i remember you have told me before that your @LOCKJAW link gets disabled but i don’t think its the same this time.
I had a look and there is no wind entry’s of this link on either sides. LockJaw got a couple of links but non points to you as far as i can see.
I logged into a rb called LockJaw-Wireice (172.18.90.190), under neighbor list there is another rb called mikrotik with a interface called LockJaw-Wireice and also a Omni and Saturn RB.
It’s probably best to speak to LockJaw and find out whats going on.
There is currently a problem with my RB433 that had a link to Guyver, and to TLA. I’m working night shifts and have very limited time to have a good look, I have noticed that the RB is slightly open so could be that the network port got corroded or whatever the case may be. I will however get this resolved as soon as I can.
Regarding the Link between me and Guyver that gets disabled: I was not aware that this has been on going for 3 months, to my knowledge it’s always been working and the link was also tuned by Oliver not so long ago.
Current Equipment:
RB711 with Dish - Lockjaw - Saturn
SXT - Lockjaw - Wireice
RB433 Both links use a grid - Link to Guver and TLA (Offline)
Omni - Links to a few clients.
Thanks for the reply. and the call earlier today.
Let me know if you need help, or if you don’t come right with the RB and we can see if we can make a plan.
The Lockjaw Link is back up and Running.
I will co-ordinate with Lockjaw to get the link a bit better. I’m still not happy with it as is.
The Weekend we had some Issues with the Guyver-Link RB on Rhea side dropping pings with the Rhea Main RB via Ethernet.
Thanks to @Diabolix for what he did to get the comms running in other directions.
(I still don’t quite understand how OSPF workes because when the Guyver-Link RB on Rhea’s side had issues, there was no data through the other links. I allways understood then one link is down data will just be rerouted via other links)
Now for just getting the equipment on Rhea changed, (I would really like to try keep a time open and come help - if needed.) anybody have an idea when that will be able to be done?
Its not a tune issue. The signal is bad. Please don’t tune on Rhea as It’s a CTWUG H/S with lots of important Backbone links and using the wrong frequencies can have a negative impact on our other links. (Dan gaan die manne nie happy wees nie :P)
