Help with wug-internet connection harmony

Hi All,

I posted previously regarding a method to change the settings to run WUG and internet at the same time. Somehow, it was removed – probably due it being a replica query to a previous post.
Anyway, I followed the steps as per :
It didn’t work

These are the settings for the Mikrotik SXT:

Changed advanced IPV settings

Error after clicking OK on IPV4 window

Where am I going wrong? Please bear in mind that I’m a newbie.
Internet via Huawei B315 LTE Router

Hi herb1

The message you getting is not an error but a warning. You can click yes and it will go past. Read the message its giving you. It will always give you that message if you run 2 different gateways.Let me get this straight you wanna run 2 different ip classes on one nic? Dont you have another nic on your pc?

Does your Huawei B315 LTE Router have a WUG IP address assigned to it?

No…actually not sure of your question though (as stated I’m a newbie!).
Basically, want to run the WUG and internet at the same time as I notice that having the internet on affects the WUG’s speeds

Have a look here.

https://wiki.ctwug.za.net/wiki/Internet_and_WUG_Routing

Wug is a seperate network. Internet cant affect your wug speeds but it can mess with your wug connection if not setup correctly .

Thx Gekido - will try that tonight when I get home

Mornings.

Did you come right?

Nope…i used the alternate option as Telkom Huawei site do not have much LAN setup options.
I substituted my IP values and such for the IPs in the walk-thru.
Didn’t work - obviously, something that I’m doing wrong.

I’ll again tonite and document each step with screenshots.

Ok

Also what exactly worked when you did the setup? Did wug work but no internet or did internet work but no wug?

Also maybe try adding below route. You add this in command promt with admin privelage.

172.16.0.0 mask 255.240.0.0 (yourRBIP) -p

Don’t add the WUG as a default route. Only use the one going to your internet connection.
Then add the persistent route as mentioned by Gekido above

both didn’t work - if I want to use WUG, I had to disconnect router under Connections Available. If I wanted to use LTE, I had to unplug WUG

Try adding the route i mentioned above and let me know

Shouldn’t it be
route -p add 172.16.0.0 mask 255.240.0.0 172.18.27.78
?
Did that, then got msg
The route addition failed: The object already exists.

What now?

Tried cmd again
Typed route -f
Has to add default gateway to wug router
Wug on now, but can’t connect to my LTE router

Paste a screenshot of your static ips here, static ip is where you give your pc wug ips. Make dns 172.18.1.1 secondary dns 8.8.8.8
