How to do a test scan (wiki)

THIS PAGE of the wiki should have details , clear, step by step details how to do a test scan.
From a new user perspective, the info available is either lacking or not easy to find.

Before I create a howto, does it exist already on the Wiki or somewhere else, otherwise I will update that page with a step by step and pictures.

If it exists already, then a link will be inserted to the details.

Not really if i understood the Question here but these links have all the info you want

https://wiki.ctwug.za.net/wiki/Start_Here
https://wiki.ctwug.za.net/wiki/Getting_Started
https://wind.ctwug.za.net/

BTW how did you get connected if you are?

I also found it difficult because i couldn’t find the winbox stuff that shouldve been the first thing how are you going to scan if winbox not setup? All the other stuff is easy to find.

EXACTLY. It has nothing to do with how i connected. (i had really great help from @Firestarter BTW)

I am hoping I am just missing something. Any new wugger who wants to connect is normally told in no uncertain terms “Read the Getting started Wiki, Take 360 degree photos, and book the test kit.”

That new guy , who has never even heard of winbox, will struggle scanning for anything if he does not have access to a simple instructional telling him what settings to put into winbox etc…

I was simply asking if that simple instruction exists before I create it.

I have looked through all the pages you listed @alpha-geek, and have not seen it. Am I looking in the wrong places?

Guys it’s a wiki. Start editing.

I think someone who has joined recently is perfect for this sort of thing as they are clear what’s confusing. Just maybe post here when it’s done so others can review.

I’ve moved your posts to it’s own topic @TheClown
Thank you for taking the initiative

@Spaffy would like to keep the How to section for actual “How To guides”. Moving this to general. If a guide is made from this it could be posted in the How To Section.

That is the correct page, yes. I decided to somma make a new page, so we can link it from the HOWTO section as well, and its easier to insert into forum posts.
