Io - Mars - New AC BB link and upgrading Io - Jellybean

Hey Guys,

We have started a project to get a urgent backbone link between io and Mars up and running. Mars allready has AC gear on its side. We will be installing a Dynadish on io.

Im asking the bellville and Parow/Mars community to please help with funding of the dynadish as it will have a major impact on both areas in terms of latency and throughput as well as cutting out a lot of hops.

We wil also be upgrading the current io - jellybean to 2 x dynadishes as io currently has old kit that takes up alot of space and in order to fit the new dynadish to mars we need to change io - jelly over to a dynadish aswell. This should also aid alot of areas

Anybody else that feels that they also want to donate something to the project is welcome to do so

The project is can be found here: http://finances.ctwug.za.net/Pages/Projects.aspx

Thank you David

Was this project ever completed?

Yes it was completed last year in October/November.

Awesome  How is the link doing?

By ‘completed’ do you mean everything has been done as per the project specced out? Some pics of hardware, bandwidth throughput results would be greatly appreciated. Im sure the rest of the community who funded this project would agree. All in the interest of transparancy naturally.

@Firestarter you are more than welcome to log into any of the ospf routers on the wug with the ctwug/ctwug login. I don’t know what more transparency you would want than that? Also it is listed under finances.ctwug.za.net as completed ( All funds spend is also kept track of there.) The link has nothing to do with me, I merely helped out with getting the funds for it ( By which I also donated R1500 to the project…)

@JellyBean , @Ogon and @nyven did the install and setup of the involved links.

Thanks @jypels, I had a chat with @ogon already, your above post was a bit confusing but all has been clarified thanks.

Hi,
Here is a History Graph for the Link from IO to Mars since it was installed. Hope it helps to see that there has been alot of traffic in both directions.
