Issues at Pmurgs

Having the following issue on Pmurgs:


Confirmed by a client in the Deepsouth. The lack of RADIUS on Pmurgs makes this impossible to diagnose from here.
I haven’t seen any posts about down time…
Please can be this be attended to asap as it is gaming time now.

Radius at pmurgs wouldn’t help you. I do have radius, but only on my Mikrotik rbs which connect to the main wug. Remember, the DeepSouth uses Ubiquiti, not Mikrotik for it’s links. We also use static routing for part of the DeepSouth (my part of the DeepSouth) and a custom firmware with ospf for Ubiquiti built by Aragon for his area. The target ip in your trace is in Hout Bay, which means there could be a link failure anywhere between Sun Valley (next to Fish Hoek), Kommetjie or Hout Bay which is preventing you reaching your target ip, and TheFarm where the first device on your route where Aragons ospf resides is reporting it cant reach the target ip, hence the bounce back to my node.

As for attending to issues in my and Aragons area, we will get to them when we are able to as usual.

In future, any DeepSouth issues, please contact me or Aragon directly.

Edit: Checked my emails and got one from Aragon, the one Ubiquiti device at TheFarm is constantly rebooting itself. Will get the owner of the site to reboot it and if that fails, then I guess we have to do a site visit.

Wow… that was a pretty demanding post, being made to a private node…

Reboot has not solved the problem. Suspect the device has failed, so now we need to sort out a replacement with aragons ospf config and install it.

Azure, you are a likeable lad, but with that said, we have to keep in mind that some of us are in an advantageous geo position to plough something back into the wug bmo BB links. This, however is our own money, time and pleasure, and is experienced in a highly unpleasant way when being hauled over the coals for links not working, faulty, or whatever. I am sure most, well 100% watch their links several times a day and take their “responsibility” seriously as a matter of personal pride. As with Peter, if something crops up, contact the guy in question, i am sure it will be sorted out, as it was, albeit through the wrong channel. If these links were deemed so important, why not WUG HS it you may ask? Then again, if this was to be the case, virtually all BB will have to WUG HS. See the conundrum? Just as a newbie needs patience, we as advanced users should also re-learn it. This is in no way aimed at you, but as i also had been at the receiving end of unfair “demands”, my few thoughts on the matter.

This is just a general observation - I haven’t read the thread (just capeflyer’s post) but I’ve noticed that a lot of wuggers tend to go MIA when they face a wall of demands and/or criticism; it just sends them off the deep end… at which point passion turns to despair. This is why I never demand (from Wuggers).
