Loadshedding Cape Town

Hi guys, since CoCT announced loadshedding again, for Feb, March and beyond, what is the best way to avoid any damage to my kit from power failures?

I would say surge protection as an absolute minimum, with a proper UPS (which would provide the surge protection) as the better option. All of this is assuming that you would use the grid, with being 100% off-grid as an absolute winner, albeit a pricey one…

Thanks for your response, I was thinking of the surge protection, but my concern was will there be any damage to the kit when it randomly goes on and off, will those plugs protect it.

i’ve got a decent ups and surge multiplugs,I also make use of proper outdoor cables with leak wires etc etc. Cant be too careful! Also i run dedicated power for my room on its own breaker.

Presume you would then be doing ESD’s as well…

You presume correctly. Granted I have not done so yet with all my cables but i’ll get there!

I’m not high up in the sky, 1.5m from the roof up (non double story and I’ve got trunking and UV cables.

Talking about these type of goodies?

Apologies, I’m deviating again…

Like anything in life, there wold be no guarantees, but it would reduce the likelyhood of it being affected, the degree would of course be directly related to the quality of the product you would use.
