Mars Upgrade - 10/13

Hi Wuggers,

We are planning to do a Mars upgrade on the 13th of October, we will upgrade a few of the backbones as well as realign most of the links.

I will post more details as we get closer to the date, and comment on this thread if you are interested in joining in on the fun :smiley:

i got a huge lan on the friday night but I will try to make a turn at about 1 o clock. I cant wait to see how the mars highsite is going to perform after maintenance.

Using my piece of equipment with two parts that you hold against your eyes and look through to see distant objects more clearly, I can see new and very shiny dishes :slight_smile:

Just a update, we will most likely be doing a Mars cleanup in the coming months. The reason for that is all the LMR’s, it’s becoming a mess… I will keep everyone posted on dates etc.

The things we did are as follows: Upgraded Pluto to a 30 dBi dual Dish. Upgraded Ariel to a 30 dBi dual Dish. Upgraded the Chimaroo link to a 24 dBi dual Dish. We also equipped shields on the following links: Ariel, Phebos, Pluto.

Lastly, the Grids that came off, a 27 dBi Grid was given to Uys to install on Chimaroo, and two 24 dBi Grids are in stock at my place to be converted into more WUG testkit’s in the mere future.

P.S The one with only grids and two dishes is the before picture, and the rest is after pictures. The only dish picture, is the dish that melted up at the HB fire and was patched up :wink:

Hi I’m new here. I wanted to connect to the WUG last year but I just did not get round to doing it. I live in Parow Valley and plotted myself on WIND. I have the equipment because I used to use wireless broadband from Sonic Wireless. Can someone please assist me? :smiley: thanx!

Sorry guys, work is keeping me very busy, but glad to see Mars got some attention.
How is the tower still holding up?
Not too much rust I hope?
