Mercury Upgrade/repair investigation

Hey All

Sunday the 25th of February 8am I will go the Mercury to investigate why the site has been off since the 13th of February. If I can find the issue and fixed it I will also do an upgrade to for the Ariel-Mercury.

The upgrade will be to new Ubiquiti radios https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-5ghz-airmax-ac-rocket-prism-gen2-rp-5ac-gen2.html and the 45 degree slant dishes https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-5ghz-airfiberx-dish-30dbi-slant-45-ptp-af-5g30-s45.html.

We will also need to align one dish to pine in Somerset west.

I will need help as this is not a one man job.

This building is maybe 30m high so you can’t be to afraid of heights and you will also be required to walk 40m over an asbestos roof.

Lets hope the weather is ok for the day.

am on leave for that week , wont be able to make it for the Sunday Ogon.

Lets hope the weather plays along as the site is not for the faint hearted.

We can also install the new prismAC to Ariel.

Mercury is up and running again a big thank you to the following people who assisted

What did we do?

We did install the two new powerbox pros and the rocket prism AC to Ariel. We still need to set a date for the Ariel upgrade to Mercury link is currently dead due to incompatible hardware.

Commiitee also decided to upgade the Mercury - Ariel link to ac and the equipment we chose was the 27dbi ISO AC Powerbeams. King already has the equipment for Prometheus side.

When links are up I would like to post he bandwidth test for both links here.

Finally made it to Prometheus today where i put @Toady to work immediately.

Upgraded the RB for the King02 link and installed the new UBNT kit for the Mercury link. Not sure why the image wont display correctly so you’re gonna have to just get a sore neck.

So the good news is that both links are running AC. I’ll tune the King02 one during the course of the week.

The bad news is that neither @Ogon nor I can remember the password for the UBNT kit at Mercury. It is up and running but we can’t perfect the link until somebody goes and does a reset or if we have a sudden epiphany one night.

The link probably needs to be aligned again from the Mercury side anyway so if you want to assist then please just let me know.

One other thing. Does anybody know what’s happening with the Ariel link?
