Hi, I see Mikrotik has an Antenna distance guide, see below.
Sector guide
Point to Point guide:
No, no and no
Wuggers should not be using that as a guide at all.
Thats the distance where you might still get a connection going but at what speed, tx power and CCQ?
Sxt on 1KM is a problem already. And a 8km link on a dynadish is not recommended at all.
Better would be to say:
Sxt - 100m to 500m (recommended)
Sxt - 500m to 1000m ( possible)
Dynadish- 100m to 2000m (recommended)
Dynadish - 2000m to 4000m (possible)
Anything over 4km you should start looking at a proper dish kit like 27dbi/29dbi powerbeam or 30dbi dish and RB.
Just my 2c and what i have learned through extensive testing on the wug
@Jypels I agree, real world conditions are much different from their testing.
This is interesting information to see what distances the hardware could work at. Setting up a link between two farms in the middle of the Karoo is quite different from linking in a congested area of Cape Town.
I agree with all the above! Wifi here is Soooo congested its not funny!!! I still think and believe SXTs should be banned though.
Can you elaborate?
This is so funny. Iām sure that when they released their marketing material for the SXT and various other devices they mentioned something about 60km or more. Now they give us the North Pole test ratings so by this rational they should give us the real world ratings by the time we all have FTTH.
2 posts were split to a new topic: What grid/dish should you guys reccommend for a groove that can do both channels 2.4 and 5ghz?
