New venue for GM year end braai

Hello everyone

The reason for this post is that we will be allowed to have the meeting at Monte vista tennis club on the 28th November but it is a no for the braai as the tennis club will have there braai on the same day. This leaves us looking for a new venue, the previous committee suggested Bothasig hall. The Bothasig hall is a lot bigger but also more expensive and they charge per hour(beers make the hours stretch). Bothasig is also less central but will be considered, we would just like to see what the wuggers could come up with.

Is there any halls or venues that you guys can suggest were we will be able to have a braai. Lets give this a month to see what you guys come up with then we can add a poll. If we wait to long it could be difficult to find a venue. Please post the venues here with contact details if possible, it can also be send to ogonuis@gmail.com.

Just to be clear the venue needs to have the following facilities at least

  1. water
  2. electricity
  3. braai area
  4. Some chairs
  5. Sanitation
  6. Ample parking

Sadly no braaing will be allowed as this is their busy season, remember they are mostly elderly people as we drink and the day grows longer we also get louder. So we need to find a new venue to braai or have no braai.

Monte vista was R300 per meeting

Bothasig will be deposit of R347 and then R167 per hour

so meeting 1 hr = R167
& braai 5 hrs = R835
dep = R347

= R1349 :cheer:

Well no… you’d get the deposit back… or it would go against the cost, so this would be barely over R1000, assuming it lasted 6 hours…

Tygerberg HS (Hoërskool Tygerberg - Rugby ondersteuners club) in Parow - they have a very nice venue / rugby club which some of my friends normally hire for functions with good pricing. Just call the school and ask who runs it these days and how to book the venue.

Another place is the Goodwood Angling Club which is next to the Rugby club (loads of parking and can make as much noise as you want). Or you can try the Goodwood Rugby club or Soccer club. Just tell them it will be during the day and they might give you a better price and let them know what it is for and what you want to do there.

Jan Kriel in Kuilsriver also has a very nice and secure venue at decent pricing.

Just an update at the moment this are our following options.

Bothasig hall

Deposit R347
Rent per hour R167

Bothasig scouts club

No braai facility they can seat 80 people

Deposit R450
Hire fee R800

So this a nogo as there is no braai facility

Goodwood angling club

Deposit R500
Hire fee R800

Indoor and outdoor braai

80 people will be a squeeze

Tygerberg highscool

Deposit unknown
Hire fee R650

14 tables and 80 chairs available
2 inside braais and 2 braai drums outside

I still need to phone Kasselsvlei high school

The Tygerberg high school rugby onthaal klub, is in the opinion of the committee the best option and the one that we would like to go with. For R650 for the whole day braai indoor and outdoor facillities, 80chairs, 14 tables and even two fridges at our disposal this is actually an awesome option. Remember this venue is a bit more central than Monte vista.

The problem that we are facing is that we said we will have a poll to decide which venue would be the host to the gm and braai. Is there anybody that feels we should wait and see if there is more options or even have the poll please speak up now. If no real objections is raised the venue will be booked tomorrow lets just hope nobody books it before then.
