Node stiaanm important info

Just a heads-up to everybody about site stiaanm:

I received a notification from COCT yesterday regarding my tower. Basically the short version is that unless we reach a conclusion as to this situation in the next week or so, I will start dropping links in preparation for taking the tower down by latest 24 September.

My apologies for everyone that will be affected by this, I am unfortunately left without any choice in the matter.

Neighbour or WISP complaining probably

Nope, not neighbour. Not sure exactly who it was (have a good idea though), complaint was apparently that I was “interfering with his frequency”…

And the best is one of that wisp’s technicians are a wugger Lol and if it is who I think (i have a good idee) he is not even n wisp using a wisp to do his dirty work all “his” links are via that wisp.

Lol, which WISP? The complainant in this case is a new player (from Joostenbergvlakte), not sure if he’s on the WUG. Would have told him to get stuffed on the frequency issue anyway, unfortunately unwanted attention was focused on my site by this.

just a educated guess i would say lol seeing that “him” and this wisp has had issue before… specially whit your tower… but I can be wrong :zipper_mouth:

It would be sad to see the tower go down. I hope an agreement can be made.
Based on shorted version, I don’t see how the complainant have a valid argument as you are using unlicensed frequencies.

I do understand that you don’t want more unwanted attention.

Take the mast off and use 2 poles :stuck_out_tongue:

The freq issue is a load of bull yes, but did focus COCT’s attention on my tower, prompting the investigation. According to the paperwork, I am breaching building regulations, and am not willing to put up court battles and fines as per below:

Based on what I have read (unless somebody can point me to a different solution), my tower will reduce in size dramatically due to me staying in a flat-roofed house lower than any of my neighbours, to be cut at the red mark:

What issue did they raise? As long as you don’t exceed the 15m length mark then you should be fine? Although, I think that is from the ground up, so technically you should be able to just move your mast to the ground instead of it being mounted on your roof.

From what I get: COCT by-law, free-standing not allowed in residential zoning, rooftop max 3 meters from highest point

That doesn’t sound correct, can you forward me the documentation? Some municipalities are trying to scew the rules quite a lot.

I got confirmation a few months ago that I can install a 15m free standing mast, if you go above 15m then you have to do a environmental impact study which costs in the region of 25-30k.

hi stiaanm I think its a load of bull exspecially when the using frequency as the cause

If you can forward me those for COCT I’ll appreciate it. Another excerpt from that doc:

Fully agreed, but unwanted attention was focused…

I will then give notice here to all my clients that the above date will apply to them. They should consider looking alternative links if i cannot find proper link.

Such a beauty, its a shame that it has to be cut.

May be a line to pursue, will have a chat with them to see what is possible. What does contradict that from the same document is this:
