Hi wuggers. A member in the goodwood area connecting to Sneaky have had an issue for many months now where the user have no wug access. The hop stops on sneakys equipment. He has to reboot his Mikro(that solves the issue) but then the same thing would happen again the next week. He no longer lives at the property where the equipment is installed and as such rebooting is an issue. With all due respect to him for helping us out when he did I feel now is the time to move to another AP. What would the next step be?
The member being Callisto
and AP: belongs to Sneaky
PS: We tried whatsapp to gauge how we could resolve the issue even if it meant buying new equipment out of our pocket to better the connection in the area, and put it on his pole. But got no reply.
Also note I’m not accusing him of anything. We are really grateful for helping us when he could.
I really would just like to get Callisto back online and contribute to the network again.
We wont mind Turning into a HS of our own so open to discussion or alternative possible linkup will be highly appreciated. The pole can go quite high and its colossal thickness and very sturdy.
Kind of these are the ips of Callisto. I think he may be connected to 172.18.230.8 which seems to be frozen and needs a reboot. can’t access it. Also cannot access the toughswitch to reboot anything. You will need @sneaki to do the rebooting for you.
Its normal CAT-5E. I could do the whole wiring over with proper outdoor CAT-5E. Its a LHG5 with its cover. I never have an issue with that kit. The POE linkup goes from the kit, it then runs inside the waterproofed pole it then goes from the pole into the wall. As MDE indicated, and the same info we got when we ask Sneaky for help is that his equipment is frozen and needs a reboot. So that is where we are. His equipment frequently freezes.
I would really like to help to resolve this issue.
I am not expecting to sit back and have the problem resolved, hence the reason I’m reaching out and say, just tell me what to do and I will do it.
Lets also scrap the “Us becoming a Highsite Idea” from my comments please
Firstly please do get my nickname correct. Not Sneaky -> Sneaki.
The router is currently on a solar power system and thus quite easy to reboot.
Its got to do with the OSPF and routing with the backbone router. It seems to lose its routing when certain scripts execute and thus disconnects itself from the network.
I will request Ogon to assist with putting in a reboot script to the router.
Thank you to everyone for your assistance. I didn’t want to be a nuisance, which is why I have just sort of let the WUG connection go. Thanks to @Cyborg for jumping in on my behalf, it wasn’t necessary, but much appreciated. I don’t want people to be mad at him now, he was just helping out a friend.
I have suggested a reboot script a couple of months ago so it will be great if it could be implemented. If it doesn’t do the trick I am still prepared to pay for new equipment and donate it to the WUG.
