Safety harness

Hi guys

The committee has decided to invest in a safety harness, StiaanM recommended a good double fall arrest harness. I will post a picture of the harness and i can tell you guys that it will clip around an 48mm pole(standard for ctwug) easily.

We urge all network admins and their assistance that work on ctwug highsite to book the harness with us in advance, this is not only for your safety but it is also as insurance for us as a community, that we took all possible steps to ensure that you as network admin or assistant have the access to sufficient safety equipment.

The harness can be booked at ctwug_comms@googlegroups.com, network admins please make use of this as we need to always try and ensure the safety of our members at ctwug highsites and also promote a positive message to our generous host at these sites that we are professional in every aspect of our approach.

PS we are also starting to build a toolkit for highsite maintenance that will be documented and carried over from comms to comms

Please make use of this, its for your safety.

There is another safety harness at Zassie which we usually use to climb Rhea.

Toady donated it.

Yup, still have this bad boy

I might have some more to donate albeit completely covered in paint so isn’t much to look at. Also may have a helmet or two or three. Some other abseiling gear as well.

Unfortunately when a harness is covered in paint to the extent that it covers the stitching, we are forced to fail the equipment regardless of the age or condition prior to receiving the new paintwork, so any use is purely at your own risk.

@Toady do you still have some safety gear? and will you be attending the meeting on the 20th of February. If you will be attending the meeting can you bring it with, otherwise the guys in Eersteriver/Malubi will need to make a plan to collect from you.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, we have destroyed all failed/retired harnesses. Any harnesses I do have are still in operation.
