Sneaki Node Down

Hi Wuggers

Unfortunately during maintenance at my node the bracket and bolts finally gave in and the entire setup is now sitting on the roof. This means that the sneaki node will be down for a few days till I can get it fixed.

Many apologies…

Ouch.

Did anything get hurt during this like any gear, poles, roofs or people? Also shout if you need help fixing it i think your pretty close and wont mind giving a hand where i can to get you back up and running.

Hope you can get it sorted.

Yeah, just my luck!

Having a bracket made and waiting for the quotes. I will need one or two people, so if you not afraid of heights and can manage being inside and on top of the roof I would gladly appreciate it.

As for damage, well bracket is screwed, lan cables a bit sliced but gear looks good and no dishes, grids or sxts were damaged. Unfortunately I have to rely on other people and my own funding so I will try to get things back to normal order as soon as possible.

Again many apologies for the inconvenience.

Heights depend on how high it is and how safe it is :stuck_out_tongue:

When you have have the stuff ready and have free time throw me a PM with your contact details and location will ask around in KM too for some helpers i am sure some of them will pitch up too…hope the damage is not that bad cost wise either as i know replacing a bunch of lan cables can get costly and depending on your bracket that can be a few bucks as well…

Sneaki I can help if you want let me know when.

Hi Wuggers

Some good news, a custom bracket was welded finish on Friday and currently going through painting phases to prevent rust from occurring.

Thanks all for offering to help, I will keep everyone updated.

Hi Wuggers

Another update!

I finished the second coat of paint on the bracket and will be doing the final coat today.

Hence tomorrow we will be putting up the bracket, and getting the mast attached to the bracket. I might need help with this so if you want to aid then please pop me a mail or sms. If time permits I will also do the stay wires tomorrow, the mast will not be permanently upright until the stay wires are done.

Thursday - Saturday -> I will start checking on the gear and changing out the lan cables that were damaged and getting the links in order again. Also my link to yeti will also be upgraded to a dual link in the process.

Thanks again for all your patience with this matter. Many apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi Wuggers

I hope you are all keeping well.

With lot of work done last night, finally the mast is back on the bracket.

Firstly the bracket:

Then we needed one of these:

To this:

We put up the bracket back onto the wall with custom parts and even my pulley system is working again.

Hence we went from this:

I will be doing the maintenance as well as putting up a nanobridge to yeti tonight. Hopefully once this is done then only the stay wires need to be sorted out.

Again many apologies for the inconvenience.

Looking good!

Do you perhaps have a cutting list and some costing? I’d be interested in doing the same at my place with a pully. I like the two brackets to keep the pole mounted. Will this be sufficient?

Hi Sneaki

Well done on getting ure node back up and running again, the new setup sure looks nice and tidy… must say I’m pretty imprest with the bracket you’ve got there - It looks nice and sturdy. Any chance that I might order one from you, I would like to use the same setup on my Node … That pully system I really admire as well. So lemme know what it will cost to adopt a similar setup on my node - Thanks.

Hi Nissan & TheFox

Thanks for your response.

I am sure I could give you the costing but it doesn’t come cheap. l will work it out at the end.

With regards to the bracket, depends on the weight of the mast. First thing I noticed when the mast came down that it weighed a lot, even more than I was expecting, from such a little gear. I mean to put it to perspective it took two people just to bring the mast down. I would advise wuggers to be careful when using the tripod brackets, they not as strong as they look especially with the Cape Town wind. I over compensated and used 50mm x 50mm angle iron with ready bar going through the wall into the roof and inside of the roof used plates to distribute the weight of the pull.

As to cutting list I cant say and I had the bracket created by a company of which I am good contact with. I just gave them the design, which I had help with from an engineer, and they did the rest.

At a later stage I will also upgrade the winch to make it easier to use.

If you want arrange a visit and I will show you how it works.

Like the design

this post is useless without pics :frowning:

There are pics in post number 8? :what:

@Warlock

Bit too hasty there warlock. You know my wiki page is always updated with a wug log and pictures.

My bad! Apologies! Dam bru that Pulley systems looks good! Well done! Now be usefull and make me one!

@Warlock

Its not that difficult, i am sure if you got all the pieces you could incorporate one into your setup…

Hi Wuggers

Update!!!

I have been working extremely hard to get things in order again. Took a whole day yesterday and still didn’t get finished.

What has happened:

  • Aligned Mars-Sneaki link to improve signal
  • Sector moved up slightly to improve signal to clients and for spacing for NanoBridge
  • Nanobridge has been setup for the Sneaki-Yeti link and alignment done both sides
  • Spare Groove has been turned to deharmonic for tests
  • Lan range has changed to 28 subnet
  • Sneaki-steamer link has been aligned

Good News:
With the new Nanos it has improved speeds between Mars and KM drastically. Currently running, out of game time, at a constant 24mbps - 30mbps.

Bads News:
Steamer-Km-bb signal has deteriorated so that does not follow backbone protocols and had to switch my link off to steamer.

Hopefully today we will be putting the mast up be another 2m and adding on stay wires.

Thank you all for your patience and support in this matter.
