The CTWUG Committee has asked me to help out with training members of the WUG which I’ve happily agreed to do. Given that the WUG is a complex network of almost a thousand nodes, ‘training’ includes a huge number of topics which we can’t possible cover completely, so I’m going to start with a short list of topics and I’d really appreciate if you could all add to it.
The Basics
[ul]
[li]how to use mtik winbox
[/li]
[li]ip/tcp/udp
[/li]
[li]basic routing
[/li]
[li]setting up and tuning a wireless link
[/li]
[/ul]
CTWUG admin tasks
[ul]
[li]the proper procedure for setting up a new client
[/li]
[li]how to diagnose and fix the common client issues
[/li]
[li]how to diagnose the common HS problems (and who to contact)
[/li]
[/ul]
I’d also like to find out how many people would be happy with collaborative, Internet-based training using something like Google Hangout. For me this means that we can have many more training sessions - any time we can get between 4 and 6 people online, the training begins!
If you’ve got any other ideas or suggestions, please post them here.
on a side note, Wamoos in my Area has created afew vids on howto setup ut and dc and that has helped us quite abit. We had an idea in one of our meetings that small flash drive with all the necessary vids, howto’s and apps could be put together and sold to new clients as a “joining fee”.
Also i recon i wouldn’t mind joining afew of these sessions for some more insite into how things are suppose to be done!
Definitely open to all active members of CTWUG. What active means is a decision to be made - does that mean connected, participating, almost connected, etc?
I want to make sure that people attending the more advanced training have attended the basic training and understand the principles properly, which implies some form of testing/scoring and a list of prerequisites for each training topic.
I wanted to join these training sessions as i want to learn more. But I dont like tests. Its bad for the health. I’ll rather just let my area admin train me then. He seems extremely helpful and willing to teach me.

Me 2 please
Just one question cant we get a venue where the training could be done. Hosting only nine persons at a time could be tiresome (for the trainer) and not everyone has internet. Ctwug committee could hire the tennis club or at another more central venue.
