Vote for constitution change 27 May 2017

Hi Guys at the next meeting we would like to have a vote to change the constitution , the reason for this is that the current constitution only allows us to have an AGM(election meeting) on the last Saturday of August. Tygerberg hall is booked on that Saturday. Our AGM this year is 9th of September.

The committee decided rather than looking for a new venue for the AGM meeting it will be easier to try and change the constitution. Here is what the constitution currently says

Change 1

7.1. There shall be an AGM held each year on the last Saturday in August.

The vote will be to change it to

7.1 There shall be an AGM held each year on the last Saturday in August or on a Saturday within 2 weeks of that date.

Change 2

7.11. Any Committee member so elected will hold office for a period of one year commencing from the day of the AGM.

A yes vote will change this to

7.11. Any Committee member so elected will hold office until next AGM.

From the constitution

11.1. This Constitution can only be amended by a majority of two thirds of all members attending a general meeting. Such amendment includes the temporary waiver of any provisions, the inclusion or removal of any clauses and the dissolution of the Group. Sufficient notice of 4 weeks must be given via the group’s primary communication methods (forum and mailing list) of intention to change the constitution at a general meeting.

News letter should follow soon
