Wuggers, ladders and roofs?

Continuing the discussion from Plattekloof 3 and new users:

After getting the test kit from @Sandman on the weekend, I tried to get onto my second story roof from the balcony using my gravity ladder to do the 360 scan. Ha! Its not that easy holding a swaying antenna!

So the incline of the roof, and the wind kind of defeated me …

Anyone out there who knows more of how to properly deal with steeper roofs? And what one needs to be able to get up there safely?
Anyone who can potentially help?

I’d avoid going up in the wind especially on a steep roof. Please be careful.

Don’t do what I did and go up alone. I was lucky in that all the wind did was blow over my ladder while I was on the 2nd story roof.

Was getting dark and wife wasn’t home. Luckily I live in a semi so I could walk over to the neighbour’s place and get down into his backyard. After doing a bit of explaining all was well.

Agreed :+1:
I’m sure there’s a couple of funny, not-so-funny and scary bad stories to tell on the wug…

I’m really pleased to see some initiatives of having some safety gear / harnesses for highsites - I’m not one of those conservative types, but I guess having wuggers fall off roofs or masts is not a badge the community would want to wear.
