Hey folks,
just incase you are wondering whats up… thefly is moving today and therefore the link between him and I is down for now.I am not sure if it will be reconnected via him or cheaptrick.
I will advise if i hear anything…

and i need another link as well, to try and keep the sector alive

Hey langgat,

I am more than willing to help you get a secondary link, although I also go through cheaptrick.

I am just worried about the church in-between us, but it does seem like we might bet back past it.

If I do a scan, I pick up your grid and panel at -81, and that is with the panel facing away from me (I think).

A direct link to cheaptrick would prob be most beneficial to you, but if it is not viable, let me know and I will assist.

Yebo :slight_smile: The backbone was planned quite some time back and it’s just taken a while to come to fruition. It should go live at some stage this week.

Yep, very glad to read this. I am hoping that we can get another one, so that we have an option of 3 redundancy links for the future… hopefully it wil look like…ctfly / langgat, cheaptrick/ langgat and savage/ langgat. that will sure help when our one and only link to this sector goes down.

Just FYI - Got a BB to King, and soon to Langgat too (as mentioned above)… I have quite allot of space if anyone’s looking to connect.

Thanks very much to King for all his help today and Savage for the link. I am sure all the guys that connect this side of Bothasig appreciate being up again. Let’s hope that we get the other links back up soon…

Hi Savage

I have been trying to connect since Saturday 5am, been up and down the roof, asked begged and got some great help, but I seem to struggle to get connected. Here is my node detail Jakesipaq (#7412) . I am not much help, as I don’t even know what kit I have , I know I see a few AP’s but the best signal is -79 to -76 signal, that is at best, but most of the time it is sitting at -80. I have come to the point where I would rather pay someone to get me connected, don’t know if you can help, or point me in the right direction. See there is a couple of people around or near me that is also not connected yet, maybe we can start a new AP or something, don’t know, and would like your guys expert opinion. Thanks

which ssid’s are at -79 and -76?

and what length pole are you using?

I had low 70’s from me to ganymede and pluto but seems that both of them are “full”

They are sitting much higher up than you so someone in that area is probably the best bet.

Well, an update. The Langgat sector is still down, so the forgotten section of Bothasig still waits patiently…for the new bb link

Have you done a scan to see if you pick up any CTWUG SSID’s?

Maybe you can set up a link to cheaptrick or myself?

Whom have you asked for help so far?

Shadowclaw, As far as i know it is going to be a link from Cheaptrick to me, but we are waiting on the area admin, and its getting little frustrating seeing that it is since 30 November and the guys connected to me are not happy puppies. And i don’t blame them. We did get a bb link to SOuth Pen as a help, but it is slow and we do get a few disconnects per day. I am more than willing to climb up and fit the sxt if it is needed. The communication just sucks!
right there is my rant finished… Did i Mention that South Peninsula is helping out a Bothasig Sector?

Forgot to say, yes have scanned there are a few other options, but the right one is to cheaptrick.

I do sense a bit of frustration.

I might be wrong, but as far as I am aware, the area admin normally handles the settings side, and the wuggers themselves fit the physical kit.

Have you sent a request to the area admin? What was their response?

I would suggest that you get your SXT up and pointing towards cheaptrick, and do a scan to see what connection you can get to his AP, and if that is too low, then you will have to chat to him about a SXT - SXT link.

Once that is up and running, the area admin can assist with the settings and the fine tuning.

This is how it always worked for me, and they are all a great bunch of people that is always willing to assist if you ask.

Instead of this steering into a fight, lets try and get everyone WUGGING for Christmas again.

Seeing as how it seems to be that everything, and i mean absolutely everything in Bothasig, seems to be left up to me, here is what I will do.

  1. I will personally build the link from cheaptrick to langgat. It will happen on MY schedule as im still working and NO ONE else has come forward to offer help in any way shape or form.
  2. Once this link is up and operational, I will officially resign as the unofficially appointed “area admin” of Bothasig.
  3. As per everyone else, I will start looking after my own links, and only my links.

Please excuse me as I work tomorrow so will prob only get to this on Saturday, IF cheaptrick agrees and is available. If not, it will happen when both of us are available to do it.

You were told I would build the link, but seeing as how this is cheaptricks busiest time, and im working most this week, it will happen when we can do it, otherwise any of you are welcome to step up to the plate and do it, I will do the ospf config.
My communication might suck, but its not the only one. Everyone has everyone else’s numbers here, no one has come to me and offered to help. Its a two way street that I’m no longer willing to walk alone. How did you once tacitly put it ? “I have no motivation to do this anymore as I get no compensation out of it”

This was not ever meant to turn out to anything more than a rant. I have offered to do whatever was / is needed to get the link up and only required thefly to do the final settings remotely if that suited him. The problem has been if i email / sms /phone i get ZERO response and yes at cheaptrick llast friday thefly did say it was to happen either last weekend or Monday then Wednesday and so on…THis has not been any personal attack on anyone…just the comms are not working between us. Why i would really like to know?
I am a little lost re the following and i quote " How did you once tacitly put it ? “I have no motivation to do this anymore as I get no compensation out of it”, but it is not really important.All i want is for what we all want a stable working WUG that benefits all. I mean you have 3 links on the south side of Bothasig and nothing here. I know i have been hounding a few folks to get this sorted and thanks to those who offered links. I am trying to learn Louis, so that i can assist you in future in the area as i am here most of the time, so i hope you reconsider your position. DO remember you were the only one that assisted me to get connected after waiting 2 years…SO thank you
