For those who dont know, here in Mitchells Plain we have a fairly well organised group of wuggers, most guys are fairly dedicated here in some way or form, may it be donations and/or lending a helping hand at wug installs, setups and upgrades. Others who are not that interested and play Golf on weekends, tend to invest time and/or money when upgrades are due for their Area or node he or she connects to. We established a Small Committee using CTWUG Rules and Constitution, and having a small subset of Rules alongside those of CTWUG which the entire Group voted on and agreed to, for the most part this has and is working pretty well as we have had afew Donation Fundraising events, have our own small Technical and Admin teams.
New wuggers get invited to our googlegroup (which is compulsory, a Rule as such) , where he or she can ask as much questions or assistance as needed and sometimes 10+ guys pitch to setup 1 client link just to sit there and talk crap! I cant tell you what a awesome Community Group we have here, it makes an Admins life such a breeze for the most part anyways!
Donations are not compulsory because some guys maybe cant afford it, amongst other reasons but we do ask the guys to come forward in some way for upgrades which (i hope you agree with me) is fair i think.
We as, CTWUG-MPLAIN Comms even help upfront with the costs of Sectors and upgrades just to help stimulate Donations and future Growth, the hope is that guys wont mind giving monthly Donations if they can see that they are Benefiting networking, speed and reliability wise. Some Areas in Mplain don’t have much wuggers so we try investing in Sectors for those Areas to make their “connecting costs” cheaper and thus grow the area and later on grow the kitty which intern grows the wug in our Mitchells Plain. Its only fair that we Approach new wuggers and ask them to Donate and give back where the Kitty and group has invested time and money in, this is done out fairness so that those who do donate monthly and do invest time can benefit again as a Group with that money again being reinvested within the Area for BackBone links or Masts or buying spares incase a LMR breaks or something. NO Profiting of any kind is made here. Our Treasurer sends monthly reports and statements on all costs and expenditure! The groups money is used on by voting and communicated to the group. From our kitty, we have even helped guys with blown RBs, either with repairs or a temp kit.
I’m sharing this with everyone so that if you have a friend or family member you want to add on the WUG, this is how we role! WUG is community! WUG is learning! WUG is what you make of it! This is what the WUG is for us in Mitchells Plain! and hope you guys can take something from this cause like i said for the most part this has and is working pretty well, 55+ connected guys in mplain and i think i know and have met most of them!
PLEASE admins, be sure to pass on details if you adding new guys to our sectors…you know who you are…0.o! We want to know and communicate with every single connected person in our Area! We want and need everyones help to grow the network and grow our Community!
I would think so since I started KM way back, handed it over to the current guys…sadly it seems to have slipped to what it was once.
Honestly, I had vision’d something similar for KM, at some stage I believe they had something similar going. Not sure if the separation / distance between KM members are now due to infighting or what.
I for one would like to see(as mentioned before) a cooling off period, WUG has grown exponentially from Strandfontein into Mitchells Plain.
With the growth comes saturation/congestion/ not to mention the need for speed as we have more and more users online.
I would like to see CTWUG arrange/assist with more BB`s into Mitchells Plain.
i would like to commend those all involved some way more than others on a job well done in growing a committee.

Yip as Warlock had mentioned we work together as one unit & help out not just in our own area’s but in other parts of Mplain & Stranfontien & this builds a community of wuggers in Mplain that knows eachother on a personal basis & not just communicate electronically, we game together aswell & our gaming admin works on servers to satisfy every gamers needs. So in all I think we are progressing quit well & im not sure what the rest of the guys have to say but as we have grow so much in such a short time I feel we would be one of the best investment for the growth of the CTWUG community. Thats just my 2cents!
Ja look, we have our issues. Some days you just feel like, ef this I’m done, only to come back again. That’s the great thing about CTWUG, the camaraderie among guys you haven’t even met yet. Nah I’ve got a grid for you, use this GPU so long, my sister is single lol. In Mitchell’s Plain, Strandfontein we’re uitgevriet to expand, it’s difficult sometimes but we will break ourselves to achieve it. Not everyone may be participating but everyone will benefit from whatever is achieved. We’re not bragging, we struggle and we overcome. If we don’t have funding, we will make a way. It’s sad to see some guys getting wugged and only being heard of again when they have problems, doesn’t matter much. As long as we enjoy what we are doing, gaming being the main benefit. So do not emulate Mitchell’s Plain, be better than Mitchell’s Plain. Just my nine hundred and thirty nine million three thousand and sixty thousand cents, rofl.
Well done Mitchells plain Wug I like and admire what you guys are doing. I believe that the wug will be easier to manage in smaller groups and you guys are proof of this. I know there are other groups that is managed well like KM Kfn and Bothasig/Edgemead. KM has started a googlegroup of our own to keep all our clients informed as to what is happening in our area just not sure if everyone will pitch in may that be money wise, attending meetings or even helping with maintenance but at least we know that they know that there are many people building what they are so luxurious enjoying.
So keep up the good work other groups will follow.
I’ve been reading about CTwug and im actually worried about the distance from myself, to the closest access point. Huge buildings, trees and one massive hill; it seems i never knew i live in pollsmoor prison, lol.
But on a more serious note, I want to get this off the ground as soon as possible to see if its going to work.
Question, say the closest access point is 15km away, could i still LAN a game with perfect latency?

Distance rarely causes a problem at 15km… you might just need bigger kit We have links that are close to 40km that still facilitate very low ping gaming
Yeah we have a clever group of peeps that have put together a bomb of system that does some magic and makes gaming pretty awesome regardless of Link distance. In some cases 10 guys a sector with poor links even do decent gaming.
