Possible new access point in Stellenberg

Good morning

Two weeks ago I installed a sector on my pole. Stellenberg is a very difficult area because of the amount of tall trees and the area’s topography. If anyone in the Stellenryk (“lower” Stellenberg), Amanda Glen, or Vredekloof can do a scan and see if you can pick up my AP (http://ctwug.za.net/alderaan), please reply here.

What is your node number?

Want to see if i have anything pointing in your general direction

EDIT: Scratch that, you are just around the hill from me xD

Yeah, in Bergsig, next to the school, so on the other side of the hill

Would be good practice to add a link to your wind node page as well.

I have already, I’m node #13187

It would be a good idea to match your ssid with your node name so that new clients know who to contact.

http://ctwug.za.net/necrolyte1 with a radio name of Stellenberg_Sector would be a good start

Yep, I’ll change it tonight, thanks.

Ok, http://ctwug.za.net/necrolyte1 facing Stellenryk, Amanda Glen (perhaps, we know how these things radiate LOL), and Vredekloof. Trees are a challenge, so let’s see what happens in time.

EDIT: It’s an Ubiquiti NanoStation M5.

Ok so you are on the other end of Stellenberg, close to the Kwikspar. You will have to go VERY VERY high in order so see me, like 50m. LOL.

Best bets would be to plot a node and see who else you can see.

LoL 50m might be a bit high…
actually closer to the Engen than kwik spar.

Haha yeah I know, that’s what I meant.

I’m on the other side of Stellenberg High School, I doubt very much you’ll see me.

It sounds like he is close to @Zassie?

@jacktherabit You sound VERY close to me…

https://wind.ctwug.za.net/index.php/nodes?node=5632 Here is my like,

Whats your node? Maybe we can sort something out…

See if you can see my pole from your roof if you are that close

Howsit, yeah im basically around the corner from you, according to the LOS
on the Wind i dont. but need to still get on the roof and put my pole up.

just have not had the time to do this project yet.

@jacktherabit, everybody here would like to help, please post your Node Name/Number, so that we can assist further, vague references don’t help, there are many ‘Not Yet Connected’ nodes in the area.

I wouldn’t trust wind too much.

In Practice you will be able to see much more than wind says you can, It is more a tool we use to get an idea of our surroundings, Nothing beats a test scan, or at distances so short, just a normal eye test.

My node name is Node Wabbit #16260@Jellybean sorry for sounding vauge was
not the intention.
@Zassie, indeed, agreed a good old look for yourself test is usually the
best.

looking forward to getting my rig up,

There is a possibility that we put you inbetween my Zassie - Solo link… Which would benefit everybody as the solo link isn’t as good as it should be.

So could look something like Zassie <-> Wabbit <-> Solo

What type of budget are you looking at spending? Because obviously that will dictate on equipment…

I would recommend either litebeams or powerbeams

No worries, in that case, yes, you should be able to see Zassie, he is connected to Solo (just south east of you).

Best will be to get on the roof and see if you can see Zassie’s antennas.
