Here is my plan for showering, they say a two minute shower uses about 20lt of water. When Day Zero arrives and we only get 25lt person a two minute shower is out of the question for me. So I decided to make an alternative shower in my shower for when Day Zero finally(I’m pretty sure it will ) arrives.

All the parts and kommetjie cost less that R500

Step one was to build a frame for the kommettje that will allow it to fit over the shower wall preventing it from tipping over.

Step two was to paint the frame and fit the kommetjie.

Step three was testing it, work perfect drawback is you have to add the water manually.

Two persons showered and used up 3.45lt(combined) of water. This will leave me with 46.5lt a day when Day Zero arrives.

Thinking about adding a pump to pump the warm/cold water mixture to the kommetjie.

Nice, the bigger problem is for those to find time to que for your water… And is it gonna be done in a civilized manner… Or will shops and people ended up getting looted… But great idea, now to build a make shift shower, since I don’t have one. But liking the idea of a pump which could hook up to a bath hand shower…

This was a test run last year in mailtand

I’m hoping that it will be open 24 hours will give me time to get a full days work in.
