Hey Guy’s

The committee has decided to invest into 5 x Mikrotik LHG5 units as official Test kits.

The following persons will be responsible for the kit and you will be required to collect from them if you would like to book it.

@sharkie - Southern Subs / Mitchells Plain
@cheaptrick - Parow/Goodwood/KM/Plattekloof / Atlantic seaboard
@Jypels - Durbanville/Bellville/Brackenfell
@Stiaanm - Kraaifontein/Brackenfell/Kuilsrivier
@rmx - Belhar/Delft/Helderberg/Kuilsrivier (RMX- ctwug owned - testkit)

Everyone is welcome to book the kit closest to them. You are allowed to book the kit for a maximum of 7 days although we would appreciate that the kit is returned as soon as possible to allow other people the chance to scan as well.

We hope this will make things easier for everyone looking to join/make new links.

Just some procedures and T’s & C’s regarding test kits that would apply to everybody booking a test kit:

Test kits can be booked via Forum PM from the individual test kit guardian. In booking a kit, the following applies:

Test kits are booked out for a maximum period of 7 days, please return sooner if possible. If not returned after 14 days, you accept that CTWUG can replace the test kit in full for your account.

Test kits consists of:

  • 1 X LHG5
  • 1 X telescopic pole
  • 1 X CAT5 cable
  • 1 X PoE injector
  • 1 X 24V 0.38A AC adapter

Things to check when you take/return a test kit:

  • All components are present
  • The test kit is 100% operational with no physical damage

This is unfortunately something that we HAVE to do at the moment, think anybody that held a test kit previously will tell you scary tales about the difficulty regarding test kit returns. I stand to be corrected, but think that we actually have some of the previous test kits that went completely missing.

On the lighter side: If you “run” with a test kit, I know somebody at Reader’s Digest, they find people that even the CIA cannot… :grin:

W\e know people at Reader’s Digest, they find people the NSA, CIA or FBI cannot… :joy:
