Europa 2 Sector Upgrade (Boston)

Good day guys

I would like to know what is the basis for upgrade motions?

I was told that there needs to be a 51% vote in favor, however how does absentee’s/non respondents get counted?

From what I gather through the grapevine was that Europa 2 cannot be upgraded because the current connected node owners don’t respond and therefor it is running the old single chain based hardware. (I just sent an e-mail to all of them to see if they reply).

Can it be that non respondents get factored out of the majority vote to comply calculation? Thus the average pool to 50% gets smaller.

Regards

I’ve never heard of this

We can create a project to upgrade to a mimo setup and when we get the 50% funding we can buy the equipment and organise an install date.

Something to remember though is that clients will have six months to upgrade their equipemnt to mimo aswell or be disconnected.

@Diabolix and @jypels can give some input about the physical condition of the sectors.

The sectors on Europa are in a very bad state physically. Would be great to upgrade them, but previous attempts to get the clients to pay the 50% to upgrade the sectors have failed as most of them are happy with the few Kbps they are getting.

Turn the sector off and tell them it’s broken and needs upgrade! :smiling_imp:
Watch how they all respond and the funds are made up in a week tops! xD
I kid i kid! Just hope the people reply!
I’m all for upgrading equipment and what what!

What would you guys want to put up there?

I can contribute like 1000-2000 and then the WUG the other 1000-2000.

I already have the LHG-5 on my side, so ready to roll. Bet speeds will be better than the current 90-120 Kbps.

Something like this: https://scoop.co.za/mikrotik-5ghz-19dbi-120-mimo-routerboard-sector.html

with this: https://scoop.co.za/mikrotik-rb911g5hpacdnb-outdoor-5ghz-wifi.html

This would future proof the sector as clients can then run 20mhz ac.

Okay. I will buy the sector in the hypothesis that 0% of the rest contribute with diminishing value if more contribute.

Sector:1590.30
Router:1943.30

Total: 3533.60

Contribution Jeeva: (1590.30 - to diminish if more contribute)
Positive: (500)

To be raised: 1443.30

Just remember that any kit donated to a CTWUG HS becomes the property of CTWUG for various such as a member leaving the wug might want the equipment back leaving all the clients stranded of wants a say in who can connect to that sector.

another option

I think it is a great idea. I would like to contribute R500 towards the upgrade.

Thanks

I wanted to link that but they have 0 stock and if a radio goes the whole sector can be thrown away although it will take up less space on the pole

I know :stuck_out_tongue: Lol, who is going to ask for their donated equipment back when they go somewhere…

So basically this project is funded if CTWUG contributes 50% ?

This would be the sector I go for.

I prefer integrated kit, no LMR’s that could get in the way of causing signal degradation.

We rather wait on stock and get the proper kit.

Jammer as dit 'n dom vraag is, hoekom sal 20MHz AC vinniger wees as 20MHz N?

want dis n nuwer modulation en baie meer effiecient. 20mhz AC sal roughtly 100 - 120mbps of actual throughput gee.

Have to agree with the integrated one. I bought 2 15dbi intergrated sectors when i setup my mast. Works like a bomb. Clients get good speeds from it.

Have 2 of these.

You would be suprised at complaint we had to deal with in the past. One person demanded their donation money back and threatened to take them to court of they didn’t give it back.

Yes would like to do both sectors in one go though.

That is why you should always have a really good donations T&C (TOS). I had people wanting to reverse up to $1000 pm in Paypal donations some months with my gaming servers. With a good T&C stipulated and acknowledged before they donate I always won the PayPal reversal requests.
